Holonic Organization
"The whole is greater than then sum of its parts" AristotleA holistic view of reality can be observed as a nested structure in which each element takes on significance in the context of its relations to both, the elements it is composed of, and the structure it belongs to. Incentivizing the distribution of siloed data across holons is a key to building and scaling thriving open-value networks. "A value network is a set of connections between organisations and/or individuals interacting with each other to benefit the entire group." Collecting this resulting data formulates currency patterns that we refer to as warm-data. The term 'Holon' coined by Arthur Koestler represents the basic element of every holistic view. It's derived from the Greek word “holos”, which translates as 'whole' or 'all'. Each holon has an identity while also containing the integral structure of the whole and providing it with functional meaning. From this perspective, holons exist simultaneously as self-contained wholes in relation to their sub-ordinate parts, and as dependent parts when considered from the inverse direction.
Warm data is the information of interrelationships that integrate elements of a complex system, by illustrating vital relationships between many parts of the system. The warm data collected flowing between holons increases the potential and the realisation of collectively stewarding the deep wealth that lives within the network constellations. Encouraging the continuous curation of this published data supports navigating towards the most harmonious pathways of collaboration, and is essential for the self regulation of the network.
Through the lens of Holopticism we expand the capacity to perceive the whole as a living entity. This implied capacity and the design of peer to peer protocols incentivises the flow of currated information and resources between holons. The opportunity for recognising and collectively making sense of patterns in these exchanges, opens up when we are able to access the full awareness of intelligence available in the collective field. From this we identify and highlight the diversity of needs in relation to the availability of resources and information, illustrating potential value flows of current-see exchange.
